Since leaving college, Isobel has worked in the funeral industry providing care and advice to all of the families that need her. Following the COVID lockdown she felt that she could do more as an fully independent funeral director, so Isobel Whittaker Funeral Services was born. 

Funerals are incredibly personal, so every little detail will be built around you and your family. No request is too big or too small and if you are unsure about what you would like, we can show you a huge range of traditional and alternative options.

About Isobel

I am Isobel but everyone calls me Izzy! I am the Funeral Director here at Isobel Whittaker Funeral Services, as well as jointly owning the company with my husband, James.

I’ve been in this industry since I left college; starting off my journey with a family-run, independent funeral directors who gave me the opportunity to learn and helped me to find a full-time job. I then moved to a large funeral directors where I started as an administrator then as an operative then a funeral director. Moving through different positions has given me valuable experience with all aspects of funeral arranging.

The care that we as a family received from Izzy over this really awful period was wonderful. My beautiful Mum's funeral was flawless. During her visit to us I made a passing comment regarding flowers that Mum had had in her wedding bouquet. On the day of the funeral, there they were in Mum's arrangement. This small gesture absolutely blew me away and proved that she listens and takes notice of even the tiniest details, which make a huge difference to those who are grieving. After having been to what feels like far too many funerals lately, it has really highlighted what makes Isobel Whittaker Funeral Services stand out. Everything was taken care of while still ensuring the family get exactly what they want. The personal touches were just phenomenal from regularly checking on my mums wellbeing after my step-dad passed, to ensuring his personality was captured for the funeral. Izzy helped make sure the service was what John would have wanted with elements of fun and personality injected, it was differentto the run of the mill service, it was different, it was John, it was us!. Izzy even took time to help my 4 year old daughter process losing her Grandad, and also came to collect a painting she had done for her Grandad to put in the coffin on her behalf so he would always have it with him. From the moment she collected John until the funeral she treated him with such respect and dignity, and like any living person!. Absolutely phenomenal service, very very highly recommended
